About us

Deep Vision is located in the Sandviken harbour of Bergen, Norway. It operates from the same office location as Scantrol, maintaining close ties with the know-how developed at Scantrol over a number of years delivering advanced control systems to fisheries, marine research, and offshore industries.

In close collaboration with the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) in Bergen and its Center for Research-based Innovation in Sustainable Fish Capture and Preparation (CRISP), the system was developed and tested over a long period of time. With this cooperation, the first Deep Vision systems were delivered to IMR, one for its local research vessels and another for its new Africa and Asia-based vessel "Dr. Fridtjof Nansen.".

World-leading in the field of underwater image analysis, the newly established sister company Girona Vision Research (GVR) works to further develop Deep Vision analysis software. The goal is a fully automatic length measurement and species recognition.

The Deep Vision Research Version is currently available for purchase. The Deep Vision Commercial Trawl Version will be available for purchase in 2024. Please contact us for availability and a quotation for your project.

Our mission

With new and innovative catching technology, our mission is to help the fishing industry and our customers increase profitability and competitiveness while reducing their environmental impact.

Partners with care for the ocean

Deep Vision and Girona Vision Research are key partners in our vision & control strategy. The two companies are experts in vision technology and machine learning and work together to develop an autonomous subsea vision system that allows commercial fishermen to catch only legal fish while preventing the catch of illegal or undersized fish. The system is already in use within marine research, and commercial fishermen will soon be able to use the system.

Marine resources can be harvested sustainably through the introduction of new technologies and a change in attitudes. We aim to take part in this development by providing vision & control technology for marine research and commercial fisheries
